Before you start

A general media player can help test a stream, while a dedicated TV app may provide a more comfortable guide and favourites interface.

A practical way through

  1. Choose an app from the Microsoft Store, Mac App Store or the official developer website. Confirm support for your operating system and processor.
  2. Use the device’s official app store or the developer’s documented download source. Check the developer name so you do not install a lookalike.
  3. Compare remote navigation, EPG, favourites, subtitle controls and account input. A feature list is less useful than a short trial on your exact device.
  4. Ask support which input your approved player needs: a playlist URL, account fields or a portal. Enter only the details supplied for your account.
  5. Check the playlist view to choose a channel. VLC is useful for playback checks, but its television guide and account experience differ from dedicated TV players.

Check the result

Test one live channel and, where available, one on-demand item. Check picture, sound and navigation. If the result is different from what you expected, note the exact error before changing another setting.
